About College of Occupational Therapy, NIEPMD
The College of Occupational Therapy functions under the National Institute for Empowerment of Persons with Multiple Disabilities (Divyangjan) (NIEPMD), established in 2005 on East Coast Road, Muttukadu, Chennai, under the Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities, Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Government of India. NIEPMD serves as a national resource centre for the empowerment of persons with multiple disabilities, covering conditions enumerated under the RPWD Act (2016) and The National Trust Act (1999), including Autism, Cerebral Palsy, Intellectual Disability, and Multiple Disabilities including deafblindness. The Bachelor of Occupational Therapy (B.O.T) programme is affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University, Chennai, and runs as a 4-academic-year programme followed by a 6-month compulsory internship, in a non-semester pattern. Admission is through the Common Entrance Test (CET) for the All India Quota and through counselling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education, Tamil Nadu for the State Quota, as approved by the Nodal Ministry. The programme trains occupational therapists across Paediatrics, Psychiatry, Geriatrics, Orthopaedics, Neurology, and Hand Rehabilitation, covering evaluation, therapeutic intervention, splinting and assistive device fabrication, activities-of-daily-living training, and environmental modification.

Meet Eligibility Criteria
Candidates from all categories must have passed Higher Secondary (H.Sc) or equivalent with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology/Botany & Zoology.
All India Quota — Common Entrance Test (CET)
Candidates applying under the All India Quota must appear for and qualify the CET conducted by NIEPMD.
State Quota — DME Tamil Nadu Counselling
Candidates applying under the Tamil Nadu State Quota go through counselling conducted by the Directorate of Medical Education (DME), Tamil Nadu.
Document Verification & Seat Allotment
Complete document verification; seats are allotted based on merit, with reservation for SC/ST/OBC/PwD and others as per Government norms.
Reporting & Enrollment
Report to NIEPMD with original documents for final enrollment into the B.O.T programme.
