The Faculty of Law at Dr. M.G.R. Educational and Research Institute is a private law school operating within the University's deemed-to-be-university framework at Maduravoyal, Chennai. The Faculty offers undergraduate and postgraduate legal education under the guidelines of the Bar Council of India and the University Grants Commission. The Faculty offers B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.B.A. LL.B. (Hons.), B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) and LL.B. (Hons.) programmes, together with postgraduate LL.M. education. The curriculum is designed to connect law with social sciences, commerce, management, economics, technology and professional practice. The Faculty emphasizes practical legal education through internships, case review, moot courts, drafting and conveyancing, writing orders, legal research, seminars, guest lectures, workshops and value-added courses. Students are trained in argument, pleading, drafting, conveyancing, professional ethics and application of legal knowledge to complex socio-legal problems. The school also incorporates emerging areas such as cyber law, information technology law, forensic science, competition law, maritime law, intellectual property law, humanitarian and refugee law and other honours/elective subjects.
