About Gobi Arts & Science College
Gobi Arts & Science College is a Government-aided autonomous co-educational institution located at Karattadipalayam, Gobichettipalayam in Erode district, Tamil Nadu. The institution started functioning in 1968 with the objective of providing value-based higher education to students from rural and economically disadvantaged backgrounds. The college was developed through the efforts of the Gobi Arts College Council and its founding personalities, with the institution later becoming affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. The college has developed into a multidisciplinary autonomous institution offering undergraduate, postgraduate, postgraduate diploma and research programmes across Arts, Science, Commerce, Management, Computer Applications and emerging technology disciplines. The official institutional records identify 46.5 acres of campus area, more than 4,600 students and over 200 teachers in the reported academic year. The institution also maintains research activities, student development programmes, career guidance, placement support, sports facilities, hostels and a range of extension and co-curricular activities. Gobi Arts & Science College has maintained its focus on merit-based education without capitation fees and continues to provide higher education opportunities to students from rural and economically disadvantaged communities. Its current academic offerings include programmes in Artificial Intelligence and Data Science, Internet of Things, Computer Technology, Information Technology, Commerce, Business Administration, Physical Education and several postgraduate disciplines.
