About Government Arts and Science College, Harur
Periyar University College of Arts and Science, Harur was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu through G.O. (Perm) No. 35 dated 18 July 2011. The college became a constituent college of Periyar University and was affiliated on 22 July 2011. It was established to provide accessible higher education to students in the educationally backward Harur Taluk. The college is situated near Harur Government Hospital on Morappur Main Road and operates from its own three-acre campus. The college began its academic journey in 2011 with B.A. English, B.Com., B.Sc. Botany and B.Sc. Computer Science. B.Sc. Mathematics was introduced in 2016, while B.A. Tamil and M.A. English were introduced in 2017. The official Periyar University profile records 953 students studying in these programmes.
