Government Arts and Science College, Thondamuthur was established in 2017 as a constituent college of Bharathiar University with the objective of providing quality higher education to rural students. The institution is situated at Muthipalayam, Thondamuthur, in the foothills of the Villiangiri Hills and near the Siruvani Hills. The college began its journey with six undergraduate programmes and has developed into a Government Arts and Science College serving students from the surrounding rural communities. The college currently offers undergraduate programmes in Commerce, Business Administration, Economics, English Literature, Mathematics and Computer Science, together with an MBA programme. The official college website highlights academic development, sports, seminars, language development and cultural activities. Its Placement Cell conducts mock interviews, workshops, job-oriented training and competitive-examination coaching in collaboration with employment authorities. The institution also maintains academic and student-support structures including the Academic Council, Women Empowerment Cell, Career and Guidance Council and Ragging Curb Committee.
