About Government Arts and Science College, Komarapalayam
Government Arts and Science College, Komarapalayam is a co-educational government institution established in 2013 under Periyar University, Salem, with the objective of providing quality and need-based higher education to students from Komarapalayam and surrounding rural areas. The college is situated in the heart of Komarapalayam in a 9.32-acre plastic-free green campus and is approximately 2 kilometres from the Komarapalayam bus stand. The institution began with five undergraduate programmes in Tamil, English, Commerce, Computer Science and Mathematics and subsequently expanded its academic portfolio. The college currently offers undergraduate and postgraduate programmes across Tamil, English, Economics, Commerce, Business Administration, Mathematics, Computer Science, Physics and Chemistry. The official college website states that more than 1,000 students are served by the institution and that it has 24 regular experienced faculty members, 25 guest lecturers, a physical director and CLP staff. The campus provides laboratory, library, placement assistance, sports, medical, parking, computer literacy and entrepreneurship-related facilities. The college also maintains student activities through NSS, Youth Red Cross, Red Ribbon Club, Students' Union, Fine Arts and sports programmes.
