About IRT Polytechnic College, Bargur
IRT Polytechnic College, Bargur is a technical education institution established by the Institute of Road Transport, Taramani, Chennai. The college was started in 1992-1993 with the objective of providing technical education, particularly to the wards of State Transport Corporation employees. The institution initially functioned from the Government Polytechnic College campus at Krishnagiri before moving to its permanent campus at Orappam on the Chennai-Bangalore National Highway. The college is affiliated to the Directorate of Technical Education, Tamil Nadu and offers three-year diploma programmes in Computer Engineering, Electrical and Electronics Engineering, Electronics and Communication Engineering and Mechanical Engineering. The institution provides theory and practical-oriented technical education through engineering laboratories, workshops, computer facilities and technical training. The campus is spread over approximately 9.17 acres and provides laboratory, library, classroom, workshop and student-support infrastructure. The institution has a long history of technical education and is operated under the Institute of Road Transport associated with the State Transport Department, Government of Tamil Nadu.
