About Kandaswami Kandar's College
Kandaswami Kandar's College was established in 1962 in Velur, Namakkal District, with the objective of providing higher education opportunities to students from the rural and economically disadvantaged communities of the region. The University of Madras initially granted affiliation for Pre-University courses and subsequently extended affiliation to degree programmes. The college moved to its own campus in 1967, and the institution was formally opened by the then Chief Minister of Tamil Nadu, C.N. Annadurai. The college now has a 48-acre campus and has been affiliated with Periyar University, Salem since 1998. The institution provides undergraduate, postgraduate and research education through aided and unaided programmes. Its academic departments include Tamil, English, Mathematics, Physics, Chemistry, Botany, Zoology, Economics, History, Commerce, Business Administration, Computer Science and Microbiology. The college also provides laboratory facilities, library services, smart classrooms, internet connectivity, hostel accommodation, transport, sports facilities and student-support activities. Its official website reports a dedicated Training and Placement Cell, 100% placement, more than 100 companies visiting the campus, 5,000+ students placed, 15,000+ successful alumni worldwide and a highest package of 12 LPA.
