About Sri GVG Visalakshi College for Women
Sri G.V.G. Visalakshi College for Women, Udumalpet, is a government-aided autonomous institution affiliated to Bharathiar University, Coimbatore. The college was founded in 1952 by philanthropist Sri G.V. Govindaswamy Naidu and has been imparting quality education to rural women students with the motto 'Not for self, but for all'. The institution has developed into a multidisciplinary higher education centre offering undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes across Arts, Science, Commerce and Management. The college has maintained a strong record in quality assurance, autonomous academic development, research and student support. Its official institutional records state that the college received A+ accreditation in the fourth NAAC cycle with a CGPA of 3.27 in 2019. The institution is also ISO 9001:2015 certified, has received DBT Star College status, DST-FIST and DST-CURIE support, and has been identified as a mentor institution under the UGC Paramarsh scheme. The institution provides laboratories, library facilities, indoor stadium, auditorium, conference facilities, hostel, internet facilities and student-support services. The college also operates a full-fledged Career Guidance and Placement Cell and reports placements in organisations including Wipro, TCS, Infosys and Tech Mahindra. Its library maintains more than 60,000 books together with journals, digital resources, DELNET, N-LIST and other learning resources.
