About Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University
The Tamil Nadu Music and Fine Arts University (TNMFAU) was established by the Government of Tamil Nadu in 2013 with the primary objective of promoting and preserving the traditional music and fine arts of the state. It is the first university in India dedicated solely to music and fine arts, offering a comprehensive range of academic programs in Carnatic music, Bharatanatyam, folk arts, and visual arts. Located in the cultural heart of Chennai, the university serves as a center for higher learning and research in traditional art forms. The curriculum is designed to balance theoretical knowledge with rigorous practical training, under the guidance of legendary artists and scholars.
