About Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College, Rasipuram
Thiruvalluvar Government Arts College, Rasipuram was established on 11 July 1968 by the Government of Tamil Nadu with the objective of providing higher education to students from rural and economically disadvantaged communities in and around Rasipuram. The college initially started with five pre-university courses and was upgraded with degree classes in 1969. The institution later developed its present 40.05-acre campus and expanded its academic portfolio across Arts, Science and Commerce disciplines. The college is affiliated to Periyar University, Salem and provides undergraduate, postgraduate and research-oriented education through departments including Tamil, English, History, Economics, Political Science, Public Administration, Commerce, Physics, Chemistry, Mathematics, Computer Science, Nutrition and Dietetics, Botany and Zoology. The institution also supports M.Phil and Ph.D research programmes in several disciplines and provides student-support activities including NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross, Red Ribbon Club, Rotaract, Women Cell, sports, placement support, scholarships, Entrepreneurship Development Cell and RUSA Central Instrumentation Laboratory.
