Vasan Institute of Ophthalmology & Research (VIOR), Salem, is the second campus of the institute — an educational unit of Vasan Foundation, the education arm of the Vasan Healthcare Group, one of the world's largest eye-care networks. Located on Itteri Road, Meyyanur, near ARR Multiplex Theatre, the Salem campus offers the same three optometry programmes affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University as the Chennai campus: B.Optom (4 years plus 1-year internship, 20 seats), B.Optom Lateral Entry for diploma holders (direct 2nd-year entry, 3 years plus internship), and M.Optom (2 years, 15 seats). Like the Chennai campus, VIOR Salem follows a 'clinic-first' approach, with 60% practical curriculum exposure starting in year one — refraction lab practicals, hospital internship rotations, and community eye-care camps. Students and faculty from both the Chennai and Salem campuses jointly participate in institute-wide activities such as industrial visits and outreach programmes, including a joint visit to the National Institute for the Empowerment of Persons with Visual Disabilities (NIEPVD). A dedicated Careers & Placements cell supports campus recruitment drives with companies including Bausch + Lomb, Titan Eye+ and Lenskart.
