Vel Tech School of Law is a constituent school of Vel Tech Rangarajan Dr. Sagunthala R&D Institute of Science and Technology, a deemed-to-be university located at Avadi, Chennai. The School of Law provides interdisciplinary and contemporary legal education designed to integrate law with social sciences, commerce and related disciplines. The School offers five-year integrated B.A. LL.B. (Hons.) and B.Com. LL.B. (Hons.) programmes and Ph.D. in Law. The integrated programmes are approved by the Bar Council of India. The curriculum combines theoretical and practical legal education through internships, court visits, moot courts, seminars, group discussions, case-law methods, problem-based learning and clinical legal education. The school emphasizes professional skills including legal research, reasoning, oral advocacy, drafting, pleading, conveyancing, client counselling and professional ethics. Students are encouraged to participate in legal awareness activities, research projects and community-oriented programmes. The Law School maintains a specialized legal library with AIR databases, SCC, Criminal Law Journal, Company Cases, Indian Bar Review, Central and Local Acts, judgments databases and other legal publications and electronic resources.
