About Vellalar College for Women
Vellalar College for Women is an autonomous women's institution located at Thindal, Erode, Tamil Nadu. The institution was established in 1970 under the Vellalar Educational Trust with the vision of empowering women through higher education. The college is affiliated with Bharathiar University, Coimbatore and has developed into a multidisciplinary institution offering undergraduate, postgraduate and research programmes. The college received autonomous status in 2007 and has been accredited by NAAC with an A+ grade in the fourth cycle in 2022. The institution has participated in UGC, DBT and DST-supported academic and research initiatives and has developed facilities for teaching, learning, research, ICT-enabled education, student development, sports and residential accommodation. The 2023-24 annual report records 6,211 students and 275 faculty members across the institution. The college also operates a Placement Cell, hostel facilities, library and digital learning resources, career-oriented programmes, additional skill-based courses, NSS, NCC, Youth Red Cross and various academic and cultural activities. The institution has appeared in successive NIRF College rankings, including the 101-150 band in NIRF 2023 and NIRF 2024.
