Vivek Institute of Laboratory Medicine was started in 1993, conducting paramedical courses CMLT and DMLT. From 2011, the institute began running the B.Sc. MLT course, and the M.Sc. MLT course was introduced in 2015 — both affiliated to The Tamil Nadu Dr. M.G.R. Medical University. It is the pioneer and only leading institute in Kanniyakumari district conducting B.Sc. MLT and M.Sc. MLT courses with modern facilities. The institute is housed in a spacious 9,000 sq. ft. building, with a well-stocked library offering internet facility for students. With the growing demand for paramedical professionals in hospitals, laboratories, and research fields, Vivek Institute of Laboratory Medicine has positioned itself to meet the needs of aspiring students seeking a career in medical laboratory technology. The B.Sc. MLT programme has 20 sanctioned seats and runs over 4 years, open to students who have completed 10+2 with Physics, Chemistry, and Biology, or Physics, Chemistry, Botany & Zoology.
