About Vysya College
Vysya College was founded in 1990 by the Vasavi Vidya Trust, formed by seven executive trustees and ten members from Salem's Vysya community. The decision to start a college (rather than another school) was taken at a trust conference on 6 July 1989, land was registered on 2 November 1989 in Masinaickenpatty village, Ayothiapattinam, and the foundation for the institution was laid on 25 January 1990, with government sanction (G.O. No. 762/1990) granted the same year as a self-financing college. It is co-educational, affiliated to Periyar University, Salem, re-accredited by NAAC, and recognized under sections 2(f) and 12(B) of the UGC Act. Situated on a 17.48-acre campus roughly 2 km from Ayothiyapattinam and 10 km from Salem's New Bus Stand, the college enrolls around 2,001 students supported by a faculty of 66, offering 22 courses across 9 degree programmes in Business Administration, Computer Applications, Commerce, Science, and Arts. The college provides separate hostel facilities for boys and girls with RO-water systems and backup generators, dedicated laboratories for Biotechnology, Biochemistry, Microbiology, Botany, Zoology, and Computer Science, industry-relevant certification programmes in Java, .NET, Python, and Tally, and operates more than 30 buses across routes including Attur, Dharmapuri, Kadathur, Boomidi, and Tharamangalam.
